Getaway Saturday was an occasion for the 2009 Red Sox to get in their final tuneups and avoid injuries.

After seven weeks of players getting their work in, getting stretched out and all the other fine-tuning that comes with preparing for a 162-game grind, the Red Sox are officially ready to take their act to Fenway Park for what they hope will be a highly successful season.

One of the key players in that mission is Daisuke Matsuzaka, Boston's No. 3 starter. The righty had what could best be described as a Dice-K kind of day against the Mets. He walked four and threw 74 pitches over four innings. Yet he didn't allow a run and gave up just one hit.

It was a carbon copy of the type of high-wire act Matsuzaka utilized for much of 2008, when he went 18-3 with a 2.90 ERA, yet walked 94 batters in 167 2/3 innings. While the Red Sox would prefer Matsuzaka to increase his efficiency,the main hope is that he keeps finding ways to keep opponents off the scoreboard.

Matsuzaka thought the pitching line in this case was more a product of Spring Training experimentation than loss of the strike zone.

Matsuzaka said through his interpreter,
Masa Hoshino. "But as for my pitching style, this being our last exhibition game before we enter the season, I think [catcher Jason Varitek] wanted to try some different things out that we won't be able to do during the season, and he wanted to see all my pitches so he might have called some pitches in some counts that you won't see during the regular season."

One oddity for Matsuzaka -- and all the players who participated in the game was a flurry of concession-stand wrappers flying all around the brand- new playing field on a cold and windy day.

"I think the wind affected my preparation more than the cold, and I noticed the wind even during my warmup in the bullpen,"

For Matsuzaka, the day represented the end of one of the most unique Spring Trainings of his life. He started in Japan, isolated from his teammates, as he prepared for the World Baseball Classic.
Once the Classic actually started -- in Tokyo, then to San Diego and Los Angeles -- Matsuzaka went to work, helping Japan defend its title and earning the Most Valuable Player Award of the tournament, just as he did in 2006.

松坂大輔此戰原本要投5局、75球，但因用球數太多，投4局就用了74球，因此投完4局即退場。

松坂用球數會太多，主因在於保送過多，他先發4局只被敲出1支安打，三振1名打者，
卻投出4次四壞球保送，這是唯一讓他感到不滿意的地方。

此戰紅襪隊共敲出10支安打，羅瑞（Jed Lowrie）在1局上就轟出滿貫砲，
讓松坂大輔吃下定心丸，瓦利泰克（Jason Varitek）6局上再轟出陽春彈，
尤基里斯（Kevin Youkilis）3打數2安打有3分打點，是打擊表現較優異的球員。

松坂大輔打完經典賽（WBC）回紅襪隊報到，3月30日首度在熱身賽先發，
4日是第2次，總計2戰松坂投9局只失2分、1分責失，防禦率1.80，狀況相當不錯。


經典戰士 當國手太拼命 松坂狀況有隱憂 

今年經典賽衛冕成功的日本隊陣中，有比上屆更多的5名大聯盟選手，他們回大聯盟球隊後的表現，
絕對是今年觀察重點。連拿2次經典賽最有價值球員的松坂大輔，準決賽迎戰美國，單場投球數飆到98球，
讓紅襪教練團對他今年球季的調整有些擔心，歸隊後將他調整為第3號先發，今年他要挑戰在大聯盟連3季15場勝紀錄

2006年首屆經典賽結束，松坂在日職打完季賽後就跟紅襪簽約，而那年剛與水手簽約的城島健司沒參加經典賽，
今年經典賽對去年陷入低潮還丟掉主戰捕手位置的城島來說，也算是證明自己的最好機會，
去年球團幫他延長的3年2400萬美元(約7.98億台幣)合約也不至於白花。 

福留孝介在經典賽表現普普，而小熊去年對他則是寄望甚深，一度也以為真的找到球隊「救世主」，
但明星賽後他每況愈下，被小熊迷罵翻了，今年比他資深的另一個日本選手田口壯也與小熊簽小聯盟約，
對他多少有些擠壓作用，今年球季將是福留孝介的雪恥年。
至於岩村明憲，有去年世界大賽經驗加持，今年要努力穩住二壘防區的先發。 


建仔、松坂 亞洲大哥大誰屬

美聯東區今年競爭格外激烈，除了傳統的紅襪、洋基隊纏鬥之外，還有不容小覷的光芒隊，
而王建民和松坂大輔，也要在這裡上演「亞洲大哥大」的較勁戲碼。 

美國媒體專家都預測，美聯東區絕對是今年最精采的分區，
甚至還有專家預言，紅襪、洋基、光芒都會打出95勝的佳績，競逐之激烈不難想見。 

紅襪、洋基多年來的對決，都是美聯東區重頭戲，今年當然也不例外，
而且兩隊都有備而來，戰力有相當程度的補強，競爭勢必更加白熱化。 

洋基重金禮聘沙巴西亞、柏奈特、塔薛爾拉，紅襪也多了史摩茲、潘尼、齋藤隆的助陣，
兩隊原有戰力就已經很可觀，再加上不分軒輊的新戰力，打起來自然格外精采。 

一般評估，兩隊打線相去不遠，但洋基開季少了A-Rod，或許會有影響，
投手部分，則以紅襪略占上風，尤其是牛棚戰力，若表現正常，洋基闖關難度將會大幅提高。

光芒變動雖不大，但新加入的外野手貝瑞爾，補強程度足夠，
待命備戰的新秀投手群也各有來頭，可用之兵充裕，板凳深度更有提升，
整體而言依然會是紅襪、洋基最頭疼的對手。
