With more than five weeks to go, the right-hander of the Boston Red Sox tied the career high
in wins he set in 2007 by once again finding a way to minimize the damage. In Tuesday night's

Dice-K is now 15-2 with a 2.77 ERA. In this one, Matsuzaka achieved a somewhat unique feat,
becoming the first American League pitcher to win six separate five-walk starts in a season
since Bobby Witt in 1987. The last Red Sox pitcher to pull off that type of Houdini-ism was
Mickey McDermott, who had eight five-walk wins in 1953.

from the mound, Kevin Youkilis continued his career season with the bat.

While it seems impossible, given the Red Soxspent $103 million to secure Daisuke Matsuzaka’s
services last year, somehow the Japanese ace has flown under the radar in his second season in Boston.
Perhaps he’s been overshadowed by Jon Lester’s non-hitter and emergence as a top-flight starter,
or Josh Beckett’s struggles or, like everyone else on the team, the Manny Ramirezdrama that
played out before the trading deadline. Whatever the reason, Matsuzaka’s sophomore campaign
hasn’t been as hyped as his rookie season. And yet, the results are there.

he is 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA in his last three outings.
